Nevada to Review Online Poker License Applications
Home to the Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the favorite destinations where online gambling providers want to set up shop. A number of online gaming companies and poker rooms have already applied to the Nevada Gaming Control Board for the necessary licenses for online gaming operations in the region. According to the latest reports, the board is considering these applications this month and may soon decide which to accept and which to not. A total of 25 companies are in line to obtain online poker licenses to operate in the state, of which Bally Gaming and International Game Technology or IGT will be the first to be considered by the state.
IGT and Bally may be first to get licenses
Bally Technologies, which has been in the industry for more than 10 years, could be one of the first companies along with IGT, to obtain the online poker license in Nevada. IGT and Bally were the first to apply for licenses in the state the applications of both the companies will be reviewed at the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s session next week. The companies, along with many other, may have had to wait a long time for this, but the good news is that they are at least progressing, and moving closer to their goal.
The Nevada Gaming Board had revealed its plans to review and consider the applications submitted by IGT and Bally on June 6 and 7, 2012. If the applications are approved at the meeting next week, both IGT and Bally just have to find suitable partners to start their operations. The companies would be partnering with land-based casinos where they can set up their operations, and integrate their gaming software with the casinos’ infrastructure to offer online poker for real money across the state.
About IGT and Bally
Both IGT and Bally are among the top gaming service providers in the US and have been in the industry for quite some time now. IGT is known to offer a wide range of online casino and gaming services across the world, in collaboration with some of the best gaming and lottery providers in different regions. IGT had acquired the Swedish poker network called Entraction last year, for $115 million. Recently, the company has also acquired the Double Down Interactive, which operates a social gaming network called Double Down Casino on Facebook. So far, IGT has not been able to pinpoint to a land-based casino for offering its services in the US.
Bally technologies recently got into an agreement with Atlantic Lottery Corporation to provide over 1500 lottery terminals across Canada. The online gaming provider entered an agreement with the lottery commission to provide 1,576 lottery machines in the Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island provinces in Canada. Bally is known for offering top-notch gaming machines and software for slot games and video poker, and software for casino management, accounting etc. The company is also into development of wide area progressives, interactive desktop and mobile platforms and class II lottery games.
