Niche Poker in Ireland and the UK
When the WSOP draws to a close, poker fans and players begin showing increased interest in other forms of poker that are rarer. Because the WSOP is full of PLO, limit shorthanded, mixed games and stud, players are reminded that poker has more to it than just No limit.
It is easy to play all variations of poker online, but for players who like to participate in live games, the choices can be limited, especially for those residing in Ireland and the UK. Poker variations are more costly for land based casinos to run and the dealers need special training in these types of poker. It is uncommon for players to come across a wide range of poker games other than those witnessed at events and poker festivals.
Grosvenor Victoria Championships
This event will take place in London’s Victoria Casino. The poker festival will last for a week and features a rare combination of side events. Among the events that will take place at the festival are a £275 six max event, a £220 PLO event, a £112 ante-up tournament and a £220 PLO8 tournament.
The festival is being held on the same dates as the Olympics begins, which will witness large crowds in London apart from hiked hotel rates and busy travelling conditions.
APAT WCOAP
The event that will take place towards the end of August will happen in Nottingham at Dusk Till Dawn. Poker fans will be pleased to find niche poker at affordable rates. The poker tournament will feature a main event apart from a six max event, a stud tournament and a PLO event. Every event is priced at £55, which is very reasonable and also features a deep structure.
GUKPT Grand Final
The event will be held between the 24th of November and the 2nd of December, again at Victoria Casino in London. The choice that is offered by this festival is limited when compared to the other festival at this venue, but it will host a £112 six max event and a £275 PLO event, which is much more than a lot of festival offer in the first place.
European Short Handed Poker Championships
Regency Hotel Dublin will host this event from the 26th to the 30th of September. The championship will feature six max tables and a deep starting stack. The main event is for €550 and will be a treat for online players who are bored of having to play full ring live. The side events become six max too, once they have only 30 players left. The championship also features six max cash games.
The exciting and unique part about this tournament is that most of the players are French even though it is being held in Ireland. More than 250 French players have already pre-registered for this main event. French players constituted most of the 656 players from last year as well, which was eventually won by Steven King for €63,000.
